PortMiami Cruise Guide: Terminals, Parking and Getting There

PortMiami sits on Dodge Island across the bay from downtown Miami. Each major line has its own terminal: Royal Caribbean at Terminal A, Norwegian at B, Carnival at D, E and F, MSC at AA and Virgin Voyages at V. PortMiami says Miami International Airport is 7.1 miles away, and every terminal has its own garage or lot.

Port details last checked Oct 28, 2026. Always confirm with your cruise line.

Getting there

Parking

Each terminal has its own garage or lot:

PortMiami says there's no reserved parking but "ample parking is available." You pay when you exit. Check accepted payment types before you go, because the parking page says debit cards aren't accepted. PortMiami suggests dropping off luggage and passengers at the terminal first, then parking.

Where to stay the night before

Downtown Miami and Brickell are the closest areas. The port is just across the PortMiami Bridge, and the free trolley route runs from downtown. If you're flying in late, staying near MIA is simpler. Want a beach night? Miami Beach is close too. See our Miami pre-cruise hotels.

Boarding-day timeline

  1. The night before: Confirm your terminal letter in your cruise documents. PortMiami has many terminals, and assignments can change.
  2. Morning: Leave for the port in time for your assigned arrival window. Downtown and causeway traffic can be heavy on busy ship days.
  3. At the port: Follow the signs to your terminal letter. Drop luggage and passengers at the curb, then park in your terminal's garage.
  4. Check-in and security: Have passports or ID and your boarding pass ready.
  5. Onboard: Sail-away views of the Miami skyline and Miami Beach.

Return-day tip

If your ship comes back to a different terminal than it left from, PortMiami runs a free shuttle between terminals so you can get back to your car. Parking is paid when you exit. If your flight is late, MIA's paid baggage storage frees up your day.
