Ahoy! I'm Captain Sail, the guide for Book with the Captain, an independent travel advisor of Fora Travel. If a Royal Caribbean cruise is on your 2027 list, it helps to know what happens if the fare changes after you book. Royal Caribbean has a policy for that, called its Best Price Guarantee. Here's what Royal Caribbean's own pages say, and how to keep an eye on your fare until final payment.

Quick facts: Royal Caribbean repricing

  • The policy: Royal Caribbean says that if you find a lower price for the same cruise, same date and same room type on its website or through its call center, it will match it.
  • When: Its FAQ says you can request a price match "any time before your final payment*, or within 24 hours of booking."
  • Prices move: Royal Caribbean says it can change published rates up or down without prior notice.
  • Not everywhere: Royal Caribbean notes the program "is not available in all countries, or for all reservations."

Why booking 2027 early, then watching, makes sense

Booking early gives you the widest choice of sailings and cabins. But Royal Caribbean says it can change published rates, up or down, without prior notice. So the fare for your exact cruise may change after you book.

Royal Caribbean's Best Price Guarantee is how it handles a lower price on the same cruise. The window that matters is the time between booking and final payment, and for many 2027 sailings that window can be long.

If you're still choosing a ship, our Icon Class family guide and our roundup of 2027 ship moves to Miami and Galveston are good places to start.

How Royal Caribbean's Best Price Guarantee works

Here's what Royal Caribbean's FAQ says, point by point:

Question What Royal Caribbean says
What has to match? "the same cruise, same date, and same room type"
Where does the lower price have to be? "on our website or through our call center"
When can you ask? "any time before your final payment*, or within 24 hours of booking"
Same cabin class is lower? "we'll adjust your fare — and if you've already paid, we'll refund the difference"
Higher cabin class for less than you paid? "you may be eligible for a free room upgrade instead, based on availability"
How do you ask? "Contact your travel partner to submit a price-match request, or chat with us"
Who's eligible? "not available in all countries, or for all reservations"

Good to know: Royal Caribbean's FAQ asks you to confirm your reservation's eligibility with your local cruise representative or your travel partner. A lower price on a different date, a different ship or a different room type isn't the same cruise under this policy.

Know your deposit type before you book

Royal Caribbean sells some fares with a non-refundable deposit. On its website, these are the fares labeled "Non-refundable deposit."

Royal Caribbean also says travel advisors should clearly specify when non-refundable deposit terms apply. So we'll always tell you which deposit type a fare uses before you book.

Captain's tip: Before you book, ask two questions: "Is this deposit refundable?" and "When is final payment due?" Those two answers shape how much flexibility you have later.

Final payment: the date to circle

Royal Caribbean's request window runs up to final payment, so that date matters. Royal Caribbean's FAQ lists these deadlines for individual bookings made in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico:

Cruise length Final payment must be received
1 to 4 nights At least 75 days before sailing
5 to 14 nights At least 90 days before sailing
15 nights or longer At least 120 days before sailing

Royal Caribbean says groups have a different schedule, and the same deadlines apply to holiday sailings. Its FAQ also notes different deadlines for some sailings departing on or after April 11, 2028. Those don't affect 2027 sailings, but check your booking for your exact date.

How we can help watch your fare

You can do all of this yourself. But it means checking the same cruise, date and room type again and again until final payment. When you book with us, we can help check the fare for your exact sailing and stateroom category before final payment. If we see a lower price that looks eligible, we can help request the adjustment with Royal Caribbean for you.

Royal Caribbean decides each request under its own terms, so we can't promise an outcome. What we can do is keep your final payment date on our calendar and make sure nothing slips by. Choosing a cabin first? Our cabin guide covers the basics.

FAQ

Does Royal Caribbean lower your fare if the price drops?

Under its Best Price Guarantee, Royal Caribbean says that if you find a lower price for the same cruise, same date and same room type on its website or through its call center, it will match it. It says it will adjust your fare and, if you've already paid, refund the difference. Eligibility varies by country and reservation.

When can I ask Royal Caribbean for a price match?

Royal Caribbean's FAQ says you can request a price match "any time before your final payment*, or within 24 hours of booking." For U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico bookings, final payment is due 75, 90 or 120 days before sailing, depending on cruise length. Check your own final payment date on your booking.

Can I get a cabin upgrade instead of a lower fare?

Royal Caribbean says that if a higher cabin class is available for a lower price than you paid, you may be eligible for a free room upgrade instead, based on availability. Availability changes, so it isn't guaranteed. We can help check your options and ask Royal Caribbean for you when you book with us.

What is a non-refundable deposit fare?

It's a fare labeled "Non-refundable deposit" on Royal Caribbean's website. Royal Caribbean's U.S. ticket contract says that deposit won't be refunded at any time after it's paid, and change fees apply. If you cancel outside of final payment, Royal Caribbean holds the full deposit and refunds any additional payments.

Can a travel advisor request the price match for me?

Yes. Royal Caribbean's FAQ says to contact your travel partner to submit a price-match request, or to chat with Royal Caribbean. When you book with Book with the Captain, we can help check your fare before final payment and request the adjustment. Royal Caribbean makes the final decision on each request.
